Bruce Gebhardt, MD | Program Director
Dr. Bruce Gebhardt is a graduate of Allegheny College and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He did his residency in family medicine at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania.
He spent five years in private practice in Brockton, Mass and then joined the faculty at the UC College of Medicine. Dr. Gebhardt focused on medical student education and was the Family Medicine Clerkship Director. After eleven years at UC, he returned to St. Vincent Hospital as Associate Program Director and then Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency at St. Vincent Hospital. He returned to UC in 2017 to start the new Family Medicine Residency program at UC West Chester.
Dr. Gebhardt considers his selection for the Gold Humanism Award as a faculty member his highest honor. His most valued achievement is the ability over the years to keep growing as a physician and teacher while supporting and caring for his family throughout their phases of life.
His clinical interests have changed with the patients he has served, but include house call medicine, pediatric care, HIV/AIDS, wilderness medicine, and international health care.
Bruce is a proud native of Erie, PA, and the father of Ben and Anna. His wife, Robin, is an elementary ESL school teacher. He loves history, especially medical history, hiking, sports of all sorts (playing and watching—Who Dey!) and his dogs and cat.
